RETURNED SOLDIER'S MISHAP
LEG BROKEN WHILE CLEARING HIS BUSH .SECTION. (By Telcgrauh—Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, July 11. A returned 6oldier named John Francis Nolan was admitted to the Hospital this afternoon, suffering from a Imdlybroken leg. Nolan and another maa took up a bauk-blocks section up the Wanganui River a little time ago. They were engaged in clearing the bush \.hpn in some way or another Nolan's Jog was broken. His mate, a man. named Ross, had to travel ten miles through the bush to get into telephone communication with the outside world. He was successful, and assistance was obtained. The injured man was taken to the river, and brought down by steamer. Ho was met by a representative of the Returned Soldiers' Club and the- Patriotic Society, and, an ambulance being ready, was immediately conveyed to the Hospital. Nolan was a member of the Wellington Infantry Battalion, and returned from the front about twelve months ago.
