Fiftj thousand Republicans attacked at daylight and sholled the Forbidden City. Chang Heun's adherents deserted, except three thousand.. The Monarchists are stubbornly resisting, and are expected to continue until exterminated. Neither side is interfering with foreigners. A later Tientsin message says the Republicans defeated Chang Hsun's forces after heavy fighting, the Monarchists surrendering. Chang Hsun has taten refuge in the Dutch Legation.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ORDER RESTORED AT PEKING MEASURES TAKEN TO SAFEGUARD FOREIGNERS. (Rec. July 15, 11.45 p.m.) London, July U. The Press Bureau states: "The Charge d'Affaircs reports that diplomats were warned of the Republicans' intention to attack the Imperialists, and measures were taken to localise the fighting and prevent danger to foreigners. The bombardment began at dawn on Thursday. . ' "Chang Hsuri has taken refuge at the Netherlands Legation, and his wife and family aro at the Austrian Legation. "Fighting has now ceased."Aus.-N.C. STOCKHOLM CONFERENCE GENEEAL CONGEESS OP WORKERS' ORGANISATIONS PROPOSED. . Stockholm, July 13. Admiralty, per Wireless Press: "The Russian Workmen and Soldiers' Council hnl issued si manifesto regarding the Stockholm Conference, announcing that the German Minority Socialists approve the Council's programme, and also agree to participate in an international congress. The delegates of the Majority Socialists have returned to Berlin for instructions. "The Austro-Hongarian Socialists approve tho programme. The Hungarians have accepted an invitation to the conference, and tho Auatrians hav? intimated that they are prepared to carry out the decisions of tho conference. The Dutch and Scandinavian Committee is combining with, the Russians for tho purpose of calling a general congress, for which invitations are being issued to-day, of workers' organisations throughout tho world."—Aus.-N.Z. Massey, writing from the Palestine front, says: "The army occupies a series of crescent-shaped positione from the sea towards Bcersheba. Both Bides are deeply entrenched and wired in.
