A vastly dilierent vessel to the one which left Wellington some weeks ago on her last trip to Dunediu as a passouger and cargo boat, the Tarawcra arrived in port shortly before midnight on, Thursday and berthed at the Queen's Wharf. The most noticeable feature at first sight is her changed colour, the hull now being painted black and the deck fitting buff, as with all the Union Company cargo carriers. This makes the vessel appear larger than when she was painted the dark green of the company's passenger curriers. The whole of the passenger accommodation fore and aft has been cleared out, with the exception of a portion of the forward end of the poop, which has been arranged for a very handsome mess room for the officers and engineers. As the Tarawera is now arranged she has a total measurement capacity under .hatches of 110,270 cubic feet, or, -in other words, she can carry 2205 tons of cargo , . In consequence of the alterations the vessel's tonnage has been slightly altered. Her gross tonnage as a passanger ship was 2003, but as now arranged the vessel's .gross tonnage is 1993.8."and her registered tonnasc 1240.7 tons. ~ BLACKBALL ARRANGEMENTS. All examination oi the propeller of the Ngntoio was made by a diver yesterday and ho idported that there was one Wade oil and the tin of another also bioken oil. It has been decided that the vessel will proceed to Lyttelton to go into dock and havo the blades replaced and a proper examination made of etc. She will leave for Lyttelton to-day. The Ngahere arrived in port yesterday and was receiviug Wangauui and New Plymouth cargo' all day She will continue to receive cargo for those ports to-dav until 10 a.m., and will then shift alongside.the Ngatoro to take, the overcarried cargo on board, aud will then leave for Wauganui and New Plymouth.
