FIELDS I'OK TO-DAY KEVIEWED. IBt GIf.NCOE.I The Wellington Meeting will bo. concluded to-day. Tho fields are again on the largo aide, and the. races look very open. Nineteen runners will confront backers in the opening event. I'lyiiiß Camp is.to make his first appoaranco nt. the meeting and should go well. The consistent Miss Sation will be a runner, nil will' Sun Sebastian. Penniless may contest the open event. Golden Glade shifted a fence badly on the first day, and his trainer has been unable to do much with him ainci'. Glendalough and Swinton arc both imnrovinE horses. The three top-weights in thn June Steeples may be the favourites .for the race. El Hallo will be nil tho better for tho raco he had ou tho openinz day, and it ke»t up with the field instead or giving them a start he should be very handy nt the finish. It takes a, champion to Rive away both weight and a start. Orib. too, will be an improved horse, and tho pair may bo found contesting the run from the hencoop to tho .judgo's box. In the Final Hurdles all the best jumpers arc engaged, nnd the class is worthy a. biK handicap. Art, ltewi Polo, Gladful, Master Timi, Tararu Jack, and Penniless will all have a largo number of supporters. This indicates that the contest should be a keen ouo tho whole way. Tip Up won so easily on tho middle day that, the All. "Rod coldinsr may .enjoy most suppor.t va tho Onslow Handicap, five furlongs, 'to-day. Croesus, the top-weight, will Vie suited by the shorter distance and on Thursday's form Comment appears to ;iavo a great chance, as she, was unlucky in the first part of the. Petonc Handicap, but got up in time to win. Hylltis was prominent over the first portion of Thursday's raco, but tho heavy goiug in the straight seemed to hamper him. Of the others, Eockficld was noticed finishing very fast on Thursday. The Winter Onts is another very open race. A fine field of eighteen is carded, but there may be a few defections. Centre, Kauri King, Kaumanuwhlri, and King Chisra will be amongst those well backed. Kaupokonui, runner-up to Kiwitea. in the First Hack Steeplechase, rcade well in tho jumping event to-day. Merry Jack's first day's form was not correct, and he may run a totally dinerent tace-to-day. I'aroiuata should again make a bold showing.
_ Sir Agnes has now gone up to list. lib. in the Crofton Handicap, and over seven furlongs the public may prefer Johnny Walker, Sardinia, and Nobleman. Johnny Walker made a bold showing for seven furlongs in the Parliamentary Handicap, and at this distance he had as good a chance as anything in the race. Sardinia pas been kept specially for this race. He is not a big one. but acts well under big weights, as lie has previously shown on this course, nis inability to begin well is counter-balanced by his great finishing powers. Nobleman may bs improved by his race on Thursday, and Rio, who is nicely weighted, goes seven furlongs well. Another field of eighteen is due to start in the Kia Ora Handicap, five furlongs, with which the meeting will conclude. Comment has not much size, and on this account may be raced in the open event earlier in the day. Black Hill may find the distance too short, but the consistent Rajput should run well again providing the two hard races ho had have not got to the bottom of him. Tinkler has only to reproduce!, her two-year-old form to be handy. Bloorainc was finishing very fast in the Petono Handicap on Thursday, and in a few more strides would have got up. Kobur and Euripos may be the best of the others. ' •
Race-goers to-day will have the opportunity of a good train scrvico and of the motor service. Trains will leave Lswnbton Station for Trentbani at 8.30 and 9.55 a.m., and 12.15 and 1.20 p.m. 'Trains will leave Trentham for Wellington at 4.47, 5.30, and 6.30 p.m. The motor service vill leave from the Post Office Square, f.ie last vehicle leaving not later Ulan 9.45 a.m. The motors will leave Trentham after the last race.
Private advices received from, Melbourne yesterday state that the Auckland-owned Wnlinai is at a short pvice for the Fleinington National Steeplechase, ta be run to-day. Thoso who were present at Ellerslie declare the horse named would have won the Great Northern Steeplechase had ho not bumped his rider off. His running in the Winter Steeplechase did not meet with the approval of a largo section of the spectators, but it was allowed to pass unchallenged. There is a lot of jumping at Ftemington. and this will suit the Auckland horse, while tho class in Melbourne this season seems lamentably weak.
