BAKQTJE GOES ON SLIP. Yesterday Uio third attempt vras uiarie to.put the V!g sailer on the slip, and tho effort was this time rewarded with euccess. Yesterday niornine tho vessel was let back into tho water for a second time, and the carriage was altered to fit tho vessel properly. At 11 a.m. the barquo was again got into position over tho ciadlo, and by midday was hauled up;as far as the road. A spell was then taken for lunch, and at 1 p.m. tho pull to the slip commenced. This took 35 miaiites to complete, end the building of a'brideo round the stern of the vessel was a remarkably smart piece of. "work, taking 55 minutes from the time tho ship was clear and a start could be raado till tho traffic was able to resume. Now that tho ship is clear of tho water there is not much further damage to report than the diver lias already reported. There aro several fairly largo corrugations in tho bows and amidships, the strain on Bomo rocks has caused the end of a plate to give, making a hole. It will bo decided this inornine what firm will carry out tho repairs. Tho slip will probably be occupied by tho vesßel for some two weeks or so.

Then an order ca.mo for a special cargo of coal, and tho vessel took tho cargo and proceeded to Grey mouth direct from Waugonui. Sho now has 250 tons of cargo on bor.rd for'Wanganui and New Plymouth, and the Ngaucre has boon fiiod to make a special trip to take this. Sho ti 111 artfvo from Lyttclton to-day, anil pick up the cargo and any other cargo that is available, and loavo for Wanganui and Now Plymouth. Until tho diver hae been doitn it will not bo known whether the NRiltoro will h'Tvo a now propeller fixed without boing docked or whether she \dll go to LyttelMm to bo dooked, ag.tho Wel- , fmston Slip is not at present available.
