BOYS' INSTITUTE

CONCERT AND SWIMMING CARNIVAL.

A concert and aswimniinjr carnival were hold at the Boys' institute Baths, Tasniun Street, last evening, in aid of tho bath funds. The Mayor, Mr. .1. P. Luko, C.M.G., presided, and in a fe>v remarks at the opening referred' enthusiastically to;the splendid work tho institute was doing. Mr. F. Ross, director, had arranged a very ontertainiug concert programme, which comprised a selection by the Boys' Institute Orchestra, solos by Miss Eileen M'Cartiiy and Miss Ruby Scott, an impersonation of Harry Laudar by Master Winston M'Carthy, a recitation by Mr. Culford Bell, and a liuiiiorous monologue by-Mr. Norman Aitken. All the performers met with an excellent reception from the big crowd present. Following the. concert were several aquatic events.
