HEMP AND TOW GRADED
A return prepared by the Department ol Agriculture showing the quantities of hemp, tow, and stripper slips graded at the ports of the Dominion during June gives tho total number of bales of hemp graded; as 10,838, compared with 10,5115 tor tho corresponding period of last vear, an increase of 243 bales. Eor tlio twelve months ended Juno 30 the number'of bales graded was 118,012, as compared with 145,328 for tho previous twelve months, .an increase of 3581 Ules. During',tho month 2881 bales of lonwere dealt with, lis compared with 2?41> for the corresponding month of last vear, an increase of 35 bales. I'or the ti'relve months ended June 30 tho number ofbales graded was 37,190, as compared with ■ 3!>,b'3S for the previous twelve' months, a decrease-of 2110 bnles.
.During tho month the number of bales of 6tripper slips graded was 73, as compared with 252 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 17! l bales. For tho twelve months ended Juno 30 tho number of bnles graded was 1151, as compared with 6811 for tho previous twelvo months, a. decrease of 2GGO bales.
NEXT TO NATURE'S CALF FOOD COMES '■CEREMILK."
Tho natural food for tho new-born calf is the cow's milk. A. J. Parton, of Carterton, reports an increasing demand for the- famous Victor Vat. and o. decreasing supply of sheet steei. Thus, output is curtailed.
