MORE SHIPS COMING
TO LOAD FROZEN PRODUCE. Good news about an increased number of insulated steamers coining to New Zealand to load frozen produce was given to tho House yesterday by the Prime Minister. "I want to tell the House," said Mr. Massey, "that arrangements have now been made by which between now and the ©ml of September seventeen large insulated meat-carrying steamers will come to this country to load. (Applause.) Of course members will understand that even seventeen ships will not carry away the whole of the frozen produce in. the stores of New Zealand at the present time, but it will make it possible for tho new season's production to be commenced and carried on without any difficulty. I think we may take it for granted that the ships will not stop coming at the end of September. I hope and believo they will lie able to come after thnt, so that the outlook is very much better than it has been for the last six months, and I am very glad to 1m able to inform the House accordingly." Mr. Anstey: How many carcasses does that represent? Mr. Massey: The ships will average nearly 100.000 carcasses each. Mr. Anstey: They will take some butter as well? ~,-,, Mr. Massey: Of course butter will count. The' information about the ten ships coming in September is thnt tbry will average 100.000 carcasses. Of 'he seven ships to come before" that time I can't say much. We havo to bear in mind always the submarine campaign, but tho present intention . is to have, seventeen ships loading in New Zealand before the end of September. This is a very much more satisfactory position than anything we have experienced lately."
