"FAIRYTALES"
ONE OF DR. THACKER'S QUESTIONS.
Dr. Thacksr put this question to fho Minister of Defence in tho House yesterday'.- "Whether he knows that the, artillery men at Fcatherston Camp have to manipulate and work the manure in their horses' stalls with their hands? During the last four or five days I have interviewed five soldiers suffering from poisoned hands. They have told ine that ■ t'hey get their hands damaged with their artillery work, and then the sores get poisoned with the manure, laying the men open to the serious risk of tetanus."
Sir James Allen: I ani not aware that llio artillery men in Featherston or anywhere else have to do tine work with their hands.
Dr. Thacker: Well, you know now. It is a fact.
Sir James Allen: No. I don't know it now. I am afraid the honourable gentlenian hears a good many fairy stories. 'L'he Minister added that the artillerymen were an excellent T.ody of men, who did their work exceedingly well.
