Tho Dannevirke branch is being keenly interested in the welfare of the men of the mercantile marine, and has proved this by sending substantial support to Mr. James Moore, who ministers to the wants of these men who transport our troops, carry home our sifk, and often die for us. Despite tho illegal and barbarous acts of the enemy pirates, despite the daily increasing risks which they run, not a single sailor has yet flinched, and I am certain in advenes that fresh measures and now dangers will find our brave teamen as resoluta as hitherto to sacrifice their lives in tlio service of their country."
