MILITARY SERVICE BOARD
SATURDAY'S APPEALS.' The Third Wellington Military Service Board sat on Saturday morning. . Sir. H. J. Beswick is chairman of the board, and the other membere are Messrs. JI. i. Mack and A: O'L. Considine. Captain p. Baldwin is the military representative. F. Wharton, hat finisher, wae appealed for on the ground that he could not bb replaced in tho service of a company which had a contract for the supply of many thousands of military hufe. Tho appeal was dismissed and leave till Aus■ust 22 was granted. Peter J, M'Ardle, storemnn and clerk, : -jvas granted leave till July 26. Respecting the appeal of Reginald 0. Robinson, it was stated that he had been found fit for home service only,- and his ease was adjourned sine die. An appeal bv Samuel Strange, market gardener, Wallace Street, Wellington, •who raised religious objections of an unrecognised kind, was dismissed. In the case of Henry G. Linton, plasterer, Molesworth Street, Charles J. Wil'eon, a subcontractor at new Parliament Buildings, stated that Linton's services were of value. The foreman of tho works said the taking of Linton would interfere, ■with about 30 or niore other men. Leave till August 24 was granted. - Dismissal met-the appeal lodged by Leonard John Churchman, motor driver, I'etone. Leave was extended till August 22 in the case of Joseph Cane, tailor and mercer, Lambtou Quay, who said he wished to dispose of his business. Decision on an appeal by Bertio L. Salmon, warehouseman, 33 Muljrrave Street, was adjourned pending a'.decision respecting- an application for financial nld. ' - The board will resume at 10 a.m. to.Way,
