A British official report states: "About 9.H0 a.m. to-day a considerable number of hostile aircraft, apparently organised in two parties, appeared ovor the Islo of Thanet and the East Coast of Essex, and After dropping bomljs on 'JL'hanet tho raidere proceeded to London, moving parallel to tho north bank of the Thames, appronohing London from tho north-east. They then changed their course and proceeded north and -west, and crossed London from north-west to south-east. Bombs were dropped on viirious places in the metropolitan area. The number ef raiders is uncertain. Probably, however, there were about twenty. Our air artillery and a large number of aeroplanes attacked tho raiders. Report's as to the results of the engagements, damage, and casualties have not yet been received." Tho Admiralty reports that our naval aeroplanes engaged the returning raiding squadron forty miles off the East Coast. Two of the enemy's machines ivero obeorved to fall into tho sea, while a third fell in flames into the mouth of tho Scheldt. All our machines returned.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Router. Tho Dunkirk air squadrons, watching for the returning Taiders, missed them, but enconntored and destroyed three of the enemy's seaplanes, and also brought down four aeroplanes.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reuter. THE CASUALTIES. London, July 7, 7 p.m. The High Commissioner reports-.— "Lord French reports the following casu. alties in the air raid:—Killed—Men, 2G; women, G; children, 3. Injured—Men, 71; -women, 30; children, 37. "Another machine was brought down at the mouth of tho Thames." The High Commissioner reports:— London, July 7, 11.40 a.m. As the result, of the air raid 17 people were killed and Ul injured. Four-of the raiders were brought down.
