' .. .Bntisjr;Goods for British People. : . ••Sriealung"at*thß 'smoke concert tender- ' cd last night by tho Winter Show Company to exhibitors and officials, Mr. Dal- " ton, British Trade Commissioner, said that tho Dominion Shoiv in Hawera, was destined to become one-of: tho biggest,'- \ if not the biggest, shows of its kind in New Zealand. Hawera was going to bo " ono 'of tho most important towns in the Dominion. He (Mr. Dalton) had newly' come from' tho Old Country, and he could toll them that future exhibitions, both in Now Zealand and in the Old. Country, ■ would be" such as few people now con-' ccived. The Imperial Government was determined, to exhibit British-mado goods in tho and there was •no good reason- why. such exhibjtions " should not bo associated with existing : shows, such as tho Dominion Show in Hawera. When this happened the show would develop into something far beyond -what thO'directors had ever dreamed of. He paid a great compliment to Messrs.
I Goodwin and Corrigan, two of tho directors, and atso to Mr. Hooker, show manager, for their splendid support. Tho show, ho said, was a clean, dignified exhibition, and well worthy of the very -important British firms who we're represented there, and when ho remarked that probably never ■ before in New Zealand had tho majority of those linns ever exhibited at agricultural or winter shows tho public would realise what had been accomplished on this occasion. As ho had previously stated, this British Trades Exhibition ■ was but a small beginning. Ho trusted and believed that it would rapidly develop, and that it would become an annual function. ' An Exhibitor's Appreciation. In responding to the toast of "The Exhibitors," Mr. Aston complimented tho show officials on their definite and complete arrangements. There was no muddling, and every thing was . weltplanned and in proper order. He could tell them that this :shoiv compared more than favourably with any shew in the Dominion. This year rk, had been raised to the dignity of an exhibition. The exhibitors, too, were deserving of great credit for tho excellent manner in which they had set up their various exhibits, and in this respect tho Dominion Show in Hawera was this year ahead of any show ho had seen. Speaking on behalf of tho exhibitors, he could say that everyone was well satisfied. POULTRY AWARDS. Championship Classes. .American White Leghorns.—Cock: W. E. Mathie (Taihtpe), 1 and 2; H. A.
