' ADDRESS-I-REPLY DEBATE IN COUNCIL AND HOUSE IMPERIAL AND WAR AFFAIRS THE COUNCIL The Hon. W. C. P. CARNCEOSS, in the absence of tho Speaker, took tho chair at 2.30 p.m. ' JURIES ACT. The Hon. JOHN MICGKEGOE gave notice to m'ovo that tho Juries Act should bo so' amended as to apply to criminal cases the provision now in force in civil cases: that if after three hours' retirement there is no probability of tho jury being unanimous the verdict of three-fourths of tho jury is to be accepted as the verdict of tho whole.
