CROWDS DEFY THE SOLDIERS MANY WOUNDED BY BULLETS Amsterdam, July 3. The later potato riots at Dusseldorf were more serious. Crowds looted barges and trucks, and street battles occurred with the police and soldiers. The crowds were defiant. Women bared (heir breasts and dared the soldiere to shoot.'.
