, (Rec. July 5, C.20 p.m.) •' . San Francisco, July L The Chinese newspaper here states that there are persistent reports from Peking that the President has been assassinated. Former officials of the republic have sworn allegiance to the monarchy. A special message has been received by the Chinese journals in New York that the Republican Army is starting a big northward advance, and that a battle is in progress in the Fukien Province. The fleet is assisting to quell the revolution. General Changh Suan is ready to fight Japan.—Eeuter.

Vancouver, July 4. According to the special correspondent of the Now Xork "Tribune," evidence has been found at Washington which discloses the fact that Japan exerted powerful influence to overthrow the Chinese Republic.' The second-in-command of the Japanese Army visited the present dictator, and is believed to have promised military supplies to start the revolution. —Eeuter.
