\ report lias been prepaid by the BPnerni manager of the Corporation Tramways in reply to a question asked nt a roee.nl: meeting of tho City Council l,v Councillor J. 0. Shorlancl, as to why cars were left, in the open all night when the new Lyall Bay carshed was waiting to recoivo them. Tho report states that the number of cars housed at .Lyall Hay has been graually increased, and is now slightly over thirty.' Considerable difficulty "ins boon experienced in making tb.6 transfers, and at present eight passengei' cars, in addition to the frciirht and emergency cars, are left outside at night. Thos'n nre principally the small cars used solely at 5 o'clock for tho Brooklyn and Wad'ostown lines. Until the repair works are transferred to Lyall Bay there will be difficulty in obviating completely tho necessity for leaving cars outside at night.
