British conservatism displayed by many old-established, and successful firms. Tho secret.-of their success lies in tho fact that they keep their management young. They aro a lino example of the blending of tho experience of ago with rigorous progressive youth. .In supplying New Zealand and Australian markets, W. and A. Bates, Ltd., at once realised that tho same lyro construction could not possibly suit such different conditions. Notwithstanding the expense and dislocation to their factory routine, they designed and constructed specinl tyros adapted, for each country's conditions. Tho result, is quite apparent, as in fourteen years they have secured onn o[ iho largest high-grado lyro businesses in New Zealand.
