A DEAL IN PACIFIC ISLANDS
SUGGESTED TRANSFER OP THE ' PHILIPPINES. New York, July 2. The United Press, correspondent at Tokio reports that Mr. Moclu Sclki, a member of the Opposition, suggested tn the Diet that Japan should negotiate with the United Stnt.es for the exchango of the Philippines for the South Sea islands which were recently taken by Japan from Germany. ■ It is believed that this would remove the friction between Japan and America. Baron Motono. Minister of Foreign Affair?, said that there was no cause for fear as to the relations M.ween America, and Japan, which had undergone a marked improvement.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
