Thero was a reference made In the House yesterday to the recent report re-" garding tho offer made bv a Christchurch syndicate to buy the State'coal mines. Mr. Wittv asked the Minister of Mines (Mr. MacDonahl) whether there had been a. profit,or a loss dn the year's working in the mines, and whether the Government was going'to sell the mines.
