HOPE OF PEACE IN 1917
ABANDONED BY PUBLICISTS London, July 1. ■• French and British publicists, including all editors of reviews and newspapers, have abandoned hope .of peace in 1917. Some hold that the Russian inactivity alone has prevented the complete breakdown of German militarism in 1917. Others think that America's full military strength will be j required to win. All Europe is preparing for another and most severe winter of war, entailing serious food and fuel crises. France ie mobilising males from sixteen to sixtyone years of age ; ' German publicists are reconciled to another winter of war.
