SATURDAY'S MATCHES

There was a good attondanco at Athletic Park on Saturday to witness tho Rugby matches sot down to bo played, there.

Tho principal fixture was tho 1 garao between Wellington Collego and Old Boys, which was played on No. 1 ground. Good football resulted from the meeting by tho teams. Both sides wero light and fairly clover, and interest was added by the faot that tho scoring was very even. Old Boys led till ncarihg tho end: by 8 points to 6 points, but before the final whistle Collego secured another try. This gavo them a lead of one point, which they retained to tho iinish. College's winning try was tho result of a 'beautiful combined effort finished off by a piece of brilliant individual work in which the scorer cut in and completely beat tho full-back (Harris) and others.

Two of the winning toam's tries wero obtained' by Nicol and oi>e by Scott. Porter and Hansen scored tries for Old Boys, and Morris converted ono by them.

Wellington Beat Athletic. . Wellington and Athletic mot on No. 2 ground at Athletic Park, and tho matoh ended in an easy win for Wellington by 15 points to 3. Davis scored three tries for Wellington and *Savindt one, while Claridge kicked a, penalty-goal. Athlotie's try was scored by H. lleid. Mr. W. Church was referee.
