July 1, 5.5 p.m.) Athens, June 29. 11. Venizelos (the Premier), in a. speech at his hotel yesterday, declared that Greece would take her place beside the democratic Powers in fighting the- Central Empires, with whom were allied Greece's hereditary enemies. He concluded by referring to the reorganisation of the Army. The Government, with n view to their military training, would call up the 1916-17 classes, and strive to reconcile the two sections of the Array.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
MINISTERS WITHDRAWN FROM ENEMY CITIES (Rec. July 1. 5.5 p.m.) , Athens, June 30. The Greek Ministers in Berlin, Vienna, Constantinople, and Sofia have been recalled. A state of war virtually exists. It is expected that Germany will declare war. The Allied troops have left Athens and a Venizelist regiment has replaced them.—Router. THE POWERS~OF~THE'THRONE CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY WILL REVISE THEM. Venizelos had informed the King of the intentioj to recall the 1915 Chamber, he said: "I presume you understand, 6ir, that one of the first duties of the Constituent Assembly will be to revise tho powers of the throne." The King replied: "I quite understand." \ ' M. Venizelos continued: "It is rendered impossible for the Sovereign to dissolve the Chamber or dismiss the Ministry except by signing a vote for dissolution already given bv the Chamber itself." CLEAN DEPARTMENTAL SWEEP AMNESTYTO CIVIL PRISONERS. (Rec. July 1, 5.'5 p.m.) Athens, June 30. Tho Foreign Minister is making a cleanvDoparthiental sweep. The Greek Ministers in, Berlin, Petrograd, and Berno have been dismissed. 'Tho Minister of the Interior has dismissed many prefects and magistrates. The Government is granting an amnesty to civil prisoners, including those guilty of' offences against the Provisional Government, and a free pardon to persons convicted of insulting behaviour.—Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.-Rcutor.
