GREAT ECONOMIES RESULT FROM STATE CONTROL. (Rec. July T, 5.5 p.m.) London, June 29. The report of Mr. U. F. Wintour (Director of Army Contracts) on the provision of supplies for the Army shows that the value of purchases made during the war exceeded ,£700,000,000, including .£200,000,000 on behalf of the Allies. The present annual value of purchases was about .£350,000,000, including .£100,000,000 for tlio Allies.
