AMOKURA BOYS
ANNUAL BOXING BOUTS. Last evening tho final bouts of tho annual boxing championship of tho Now Zealand Government Training Ship Amokiira were contested in tho schoolroom on Thorndon Esplanade. Owing to tho 'unavoidable absence of Commander Hooper, "K.N.I?-., tho gathering was presided over, by Lieut. Barnsdale, R.N.IJ., who was ably assisted by the following officers:—lieferee, Mr. Power; judge, Sir. Martin; timekeeper, Mr. Knox (all of the Amokuru).
.'j.'ho ioliowing are the results of tho various bouts, which were very evenly contested, and some of them required very careful judging-.—Bantam-weight: Amos beat Whitlow. Feather-weight: Longuet bent Eskriggo. Light-weight: Cameron beat Finlayson. Middle-weight: Martin beat Corameror. Heavy-weight: Subritzky beat Morrison. All bouts were three two-minute rounds, with the exception of the heavy-weight, which consisted of fivo two-minute rounds. A trophy for tho most scientific boxer of the tournament was presented by the ship's medical officer (Dr. H. A. H. Gilmer). This was won by Cameron, the vinner of the light-weight championship.
