EDUCATION BOARD

* ' YESTERDAY'S MEETING.' \ Tho Wellington Education Board mot yesterday. The Hon. J. G. W. Aitkcji presided, and thero were present also Messrs G. London, E. P. Rishworth, T. Forsyth. W. Allan, R. A. Wright, W; H. Field, J. Kebboll, T. Moss, A. Maokay, and E. 11. Penney. In respect to the Hinau and Waterfalls Schools, it was decided to adhere to the decision to have one central school in the locality, and j hat on the Tiranmea Estate, which was purchased' by the Government recently. Tho General Manager of Railways reported that provision, bad now been made for tho conveyance of childron from Pigeon Bush to Cross Creek. The-following resignations were accopted :—Mr. G. Bigg-Wither, sole teacher, Robin Hood Bay; iris's Fairbrother, solo teacher, Pori; Mrs. E. Flaws, sole teacher, Rnkauui; Miss E Worden, pupil teacher, Brooklyn; Miss K. Grant, pupil teacher, Terrace; Miss M. M. Wilson, Rongomai; Mr. .T. Dineen, attendance officer.. Respecting- the retirement oi Mr. Diiieou, the secretary was ■ instructed to communicate with the (Returned Soldiers Department with a view to tho employment of a suitable man. The board approved the .arrangements made for the collection of subscriptions in aid of the children who suffered in tho recent IjOudoU air raid.
