Tho matrons of theso hospitals, with few exceptions, keep in touch with thoir pa- | tients after leaving hospital. They learn the progress of tho babies and advise tho | mothers as to their treatmont, and tho ] babies are often brought to seo thorn. They also do much valuable ante-natal work, as when booking patients they niako careful inquiries ns io their condition, and advise medical treatment when necessary."
