/ ' '■ GREYMOUTH'S CARE FOR ITS FAIR ': NAME. Br Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, June 26. A representative .meeting' of the Citizens' League was held to-night to deal with the question of jury justice in Greymouth. After lengthy discussions the following motions were carried :— "That this meeting of the Greymouth Citizens' League records its strong protest against the action of juries which have in recent years brought: the fair name of justice into disrepute in our town." "That we as - citizens, of Greymouth pledge ourselves to actively promote the interests of justice, and, further, that we instruct members of the executive of the league to take steps to call a meeting, if on any future occasion in the opinion of the majority of the executive local feeling has interfered with the course of justice, to consider what action to take in order to uphold the honour and fair name of the town "

"That the Greymouth Press be asked to publish articles dealing with the duties of jurors during the fortnight immediately preceding the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Greymouth." The league took strong exception to an advertisement in tlie local evening paper intimating that the citizens ,of Greymouth were entertaining Mr. P. Webb, M.P., on his release from gaol. . The chairman and the secretary were instructed to interview the Mayor and ascertain whether ho had given his permission for the use of the term "citizens of Greymouth" contained in the said advertisement. . •
