MAGISTRATE'S COURT

A short sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held on Saturday morning, Mr. \V. G. lliddcll, S.H., being on the Bench. Michael Joseph X'Camt pleaded guilty to the theft of a portmanteau and contents, value £6 19s. 6d., the property of Alfred Benjamin Lucas, and was remanded to Juno 26 for sentence. For wilfully damaging the screen of a motor-cycle sidecar, value 55., William Main Coriuie wae convicted and fined 55., and ordered to pay the damage; in default 24 hours' imprisonment. For insobriety George Brailey was fined 205., in tho alternative threo days' imprisonment. Three first offenders were convicted and discharged.
