A BRILLIANT NEW ZEALANDER
VICTORIA CROSS FOR NAVAL EXPLOIT, . (Rec. June 24, 5.5 p.m.) London, June 23. Lieutenant-Commander Sanders, of the Royal Naval Reserve, who has , been awarded tho Victoria Cross—the story of his exploit is withheld for the present—is an Aucklander, and was formerly an officer of tho Union Steam Ship Company. Hβ joined tho Naval Reserve a year ago, and was rapidly promoted to lieutenantcommander. He is believed to have obtained the Victoria Cross for one of the most brilliant minor engagements of the war.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
