"HARD DONE BY"
Sir,—ln your local column this morning you ventilate a grievance or a socalled hardship of , a First Divisionist. The case I mention, is that of a reservist called in the last ballot, and one who has imported labour from Australia to fill his own. duties while at the front Now, sir,, I really think 'that this particular man got all he richly deserved'in doing what he has. done. What right lias ho to engage a man from Australia while, there are hundreds of men over the age limit in this country and many returned soldiers quito capable of fulfilling almost any position for a period at least.' It seems a rotten state of affairs that while our boys are away fighting at the front that 6hirkers aro allowed to dodge their duties by slipping from Australia and jumping positlonn that should be filled by our x>lder men. I notice also that when these imported men are balloted they appeal on the ground that Australia is their native land, and so far have been exempted. Trusting that the Government will take a hand in stopping tho encouragement of importing shirkers,—l am, etc., SECOND DIVISION.
