An Excellent Apple Display. -The judge of tho apples, Mr. G. Stratford, ot Nelson, formerly a Government expeft, "expressed himself as being more than satisfied with, tho very fine display of fruit. The absence of blemish nnd disease-was most noticeable.- This display compared satisfactorily with previous years, and competition, was very , close all through. This wag especially 'tho caso with the championship class, ,'trliero there was only half a. point between Mr. L. G. Duncan's champion ex•Jiibit and that of Mr. J. dishing. Thus jNolson did not have a, very big lend over Qairko's Bay in the big contest, . although most of the other prizes went to }%> South island district. Mr. Stratford j'Jjad eome fault to find with tho packing of the case classes, and said there weio ',X>oints lost in this rospect by many otherwise excellent exhibits.
