A hard-up social was held at tho Central Fire Brigado Station last evening, and was much enjoyed by about thirty couples. The ladies first prize was won by Miss Wallace, Miss Howard being second. Mr. Miley won tho men's first prize, Mr. Simpson being second. Mr. T. B. Clark, station officer, was master of ceremonies. Tho Camp Commandant at Trentham acknowledges with thanks the receipt of 'tho following gifts for tho hospital:— Mrs. Luke, 2 bagatelle boards; Soldiers' Comforts Guild, 1 case bananas, 1 case oranges; Salvation Army, handkerchiefs, sweets, cakes, and oranges. HAIRS ON' THE FACE. ' Superfluous Hair is one of the most distressing blemishes with which women are afflicted, and hitherto there has been ■no permanent cure. Electrolysis invariably leaves the face badly marked, even more disfiguring than tho hair, and depilatories are worse than useless, for they only burn the hair off, and cause it to grow out'doubly strong. "ICULDAH" is a medical formula, which has no equal for destroying the roots of tho hairs; it is quite unlike any other superfluous hair remedy, and it behoves every woman so afflicted to give "KULDAH" a trial. It leaves no trace of anything having been applied, and isa marvellous cure, as thousands of satisfied users have proved; price, '6s. 6d., in plain sealeel wrapper, from G. Mee, Chemist, Lambton Quay, Wellington (if posted 3d. extra).—Advt. Delays are dangerous with colds and influenza. .Get NAZOL to-dav. Better than mixtures or syrups. No cold is NAZOL-proof. Is. 6d. buys 60 doses.— Advt. THE DISTINCTIVE CHARM THAT characterises my LADIES' COSTUMES is the result of years of study of the art of making clothes that FIT PROPERLY. Ladies who wish to look really emart and u,p to date cannot do better than let me make their costumes. I SUPERVISE THE WHOLE WORK. H. GOTLIEB, Late Nevrcaetloi England, "THE DISTINCTIVE TAILOR."
