Jl'Leau were present at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitablo Aid Board, held yesterday afternoon.
The Hospital Committee's reports and recommendations were as follow:—"That plans are being prepared by Messrs. Crichton and il'Kay for the proposed
diphtheria, ward, aad that it is hoped arrangements will now shortly be concluded with the Government for the exchange of some of the board's property for about 10 acres of the Government's land adjacent to the Fever Hospital." "That the thanks of the board be tendered to Dr. Crnickshnnk for tho valuable assistance rendered during tho Medical Superintendent's absence on leave." "That the board appeal against the calling up of Dr. Fitzgerald, a house surgeon at the Hospital. This action is desired on the urgent solicitation of the Medical Superintendent, who states a shortage of house surgeons and the diffi-' cnlty of obtaining same. It is desired to place oil record the fact that Dr. Fitzgerald is desirous of giving his services to the Defence authorities, but is willing, owing to the dearth of doctors in the Dominion, to remain with the board to help in the present difficult juncture of getting a sufficient number of house surgeons to cope with the Hospital's requirements."
