SICK SOLDIERS
SUMMARY OF NUMBERS. The weekly summary-of- the returned sick and wounded soldiers receiving medical treatment through tho institutions under the control of the Public Health Department shows that there were in the week ending Juno 11 no fewer than 7oi soldiers under, treatment. They were classified as follows:— In-patients. . Members of the Expeditionary Force PAS Discharged soldiers 248 Out-patients. ■Members of, the Forces 202 Discharged soldiers 99 : At Auckland Hospital there were 115 soldiers under treatment; at Napier, 31; •at Wellington, 63;. at Christchuroh, 3il; at Dunedin, 71; at Invercni'Til 1 '"• v Rotorua, 125 (the latest return from Rotorua shows that in the mcaut.i.ic t ..e ■number has swelled to 142); at Hanmer, i3B; and at Lowry Bay, 16 v . - Of mental cases there are at the Kari±a no /Neurasthenic Hospital five soldiers who still remain • members of the Force and five discharged men at Seacliff, four soldiers and six discharged men; at Avouidale, one soldier and two discharged,men; ■at Sunnyside, two soldiers. sell) giving this information, "to know that out of the large body of 8000 men who have - returned to New Zealand the total number of mental cases under treatment is only some 25, which is probably not up to the average of the civilian population."
