A JAPANESE-AMERICAN MISUNDER-' STANDING Washington, June 19. The Japanese Note to America declares that the differences regarding Americas Note to China aro duo to misunderstandin". The incident is considered closed. United States officials expect that China will declare war on Germany. [A previous message from Washington stated: Much interest is evinced regarding a Japanese Note to America, stating that Japan does not endorse Americas Note to China, in which America made an appeal for the adjustment of internal differences, and that Japan declines to take similar action. Officials behove that the attitudo of Japan is based on her claim to her paramount interest in China, but the Note does not mention this. Britain's reply to the United States Note is similar to the Japanese. |
