ARMY COMMITTEE DEFIES THE
AUTHORITIES
ULTIMATUM PRESENTED

Madrid, June 19. 'A delayed dispatch reveals the fact that lung Alphonso sent General Marina to suppress, the Army's Committee of Defence at Barcelona, which had demandcd better conditions and the remedying of" the chronic' discontent in the Army. The committee presented an ultimatum demanding within twelve hours the release of its arrested leaders, coupled with an official recognition and sanction for, the committee to confidentially ■ advise. General Marina telegraphed tho King that practioally the entire Army defied the authorities. Tho demands wero immediately satisfied.
The Spanish Iforoign Minister has instructed the Spanish Ambassadors categorically to deny tho statements that Spain is passing through a revolutionary crisis.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
