MAGISTRATE'S COURT SHOIiT- LIST OP POLICE CASES. Mr. L. 0. lleid, S.M., presided at. tho Jtagistrate's Court, yesterday, and heard tlio police cases. For insobriety William Wilson, against whom there was a long list of previous convictions, was sentenced to twelve months' treatment at, R_oto Hon. Max Wappcr was nned 10s.; in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Ono first offender was convicted and discharged. Christian Carl Day was convicted and discharged for being found drunk, and for committing a grossly indecent act In Lombard Street he w.tb fined 10s., with the option of serving ten days in gaol. Deuis Francis Callaghan was convicted of being found helplessly drunk in Ohiro Road, and was ordered to pay medical expenses, 17s. 6d., in default seven days' imprisonment. •lames Tlcrbcrt Barrett was charged with obtaining by fraud a meal at the Silver Grid Restaurant, Cuba. Street, and refusing to pay for same. Tho evidence showed that accused and another went into tho restaurant together, and a. misunderstanding arose between the parties. Tho charge of fraud, was dismissed, and accused was ordered to pay tho cost, of tho meal and Court costs, 4s. Tn the enso of William Ilintou Toole, charged with being drjtnk and with a breach of his prohibition order, adjourned from the previous day, J.he evidence was very conflicting. Tlio charge of being drunk was dismissed, and on Iho second charge accused was fined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment. CI.VIL OASES. Mr. W. (1, Biddell.
