The Bank of England olecoutit retc v.ae on January 2, 1914, reduced Xrom 5 to 41 per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent., and on January 23 3 per cent. On July 30 the rato was raised to 4 per cent., and on July .31 It was ratsw 10 8 per cent., and on August 1 it was further advanced to 10 per cent. On August 6 the rate was reduced to 6 per cent., on Ancust 7 it was further reducod to 5 jer cent., on July 33. 1916. it was raised to 6 eer cent., on Jammry 12, 1917, it -sraa reduced to 5} per cent., and oh April 5 it was further reduced to 5 per cent. OPEN HABKET IUTBS. The open market discount rato for thrco months' bill is 4J per cent., gb compared ■with 43 per cent, last -\ve«k, and 4 9-16 per cent, last year. Short loans are quoted at 4 3-8 per cent., as against 43-8 per cent, last week and 4 per cent, last year. COLONIAL AND OTHEE PBODUCE. Butter.—Quiet, but firm.,' Salted colonial, unchanged.
