THE SECOND DIVISION
Sir,—Some of tho interesting questions raised by your leader yesterday demand careful sifting. For instance, would it not bo possible for tho Government to announce ' a medical examination of Class A in tho Second Division, i.e., tho men without children. Then there seems no reason why this class should not havo some- knowledgo as to what class of work would be required of them in cases where they are put into tho Homo Service class, and also tho probable length of time which might elapse before such services would be required. Tho Second Division men are anxious to do their "bit"—somewhere and sometime—but in View of the fact that ths conscription of labour is not existing, it appears to the writer that a large amount of work will be entailed in order that Home Service work will be equitably distributed, and with as little friction as possible wlien the time comes for calling up. —I am, etc., CLASS A.
