A CATTLE STEALING CASE
By Telegraph—Press Association. Hamilton, Jurio 11. In llio Supreme Court this atfernoon, a young man named Harold Keys was found guilty on tlireo charges of cuttle stealing at Frankton. Soutouco was deferred until Friday morning. Tho prisoner, who conducted his own defence, mado serious allegations against AV. Davis, manager for Ewen M'Gregor, tho owner of tho cattle. Ho alleged that Davis had sold him the cattlo in question. Davis denied having had- any dealings in the matter whatever with tho prisoner. v Tho prisoner was unablo to produce any receipts, stating that ho had destroyed all tho papers (after ho had beon called up in the ballot) preparatory to going into camp. The prisoner absconded from bail in March last, when first charged, but subsequently lie was arrested at Mangaweka. He said that efforts had beon mado to induce him to turn King's evideuco, it being alleged that ho was a member of a gang of cattlo stealers in this district. This ho denied.
