SPAIN'S POLITICAL CRISIS
I POPULAR INFLUENCES AT WORKMOVEMENT ANTE-GERMAN ! Madrid, June 13. The late Government's resignation means' really that a defective political power is passing into the hands of socalled Military Committees of Defence, which demand radical changes in the administration of the Army. An effort by the late Government to compromise was partially successful. The present problem consists of satisfying the military demands, without sacrificing the remnants of the constitutional regime. Tho reactionary elements, which hitherto relied on the Army, are disconcerted to find the Army suddenly emancipated from their control. ■ These committees originated in widespread dissatisfaction with the system of favouritism in promotions. The movement is generally popular, but the Clericals and pro-Germans are endeavouring the minimiso its importance.—Ans.-N./.. Cable Assn.
