EXIT CONSTANTINE
; NEW SITUATION I GREECE ALLIED TROOPS LANDED NEW ITALIAN OFFENSIVE STRONG BLOW IN THE TRENTIO ANOTHER BRITISH ADVANCE
Constantino of Greece, who has persistently connived at German trickery in tho Balkans, and by his general policy of rail-sitting proved himself to be an unmitigated nuisance—at times a distinct menace—to tho Allies in their operations in that theatre of the war, has abdicated his throne, which has now been occupied by his second son, Prince Alexander. The Allies have landed troops at Corinth and in Thessaly, and intimated to the Greek Premier that steps will bc'takon to control the distribution of the Thessalian harvest, and generally to maintain order in tho kingdom' which Constantine has done his best to WTeck. Italy has proclaimed a /protectorate over Albania and occupied Epirus as guarantees for her interests. Important developments are pending. The British in tho West have advanced two miles of their front north-east of Mcssines, and in other directions have conducted successful operations. In the Trentino, the Italians aro reported to have initiated a substantial and successful new offensive. Several reports to-day depict conditions of serious internal trouble in Germany. The submarine campaign is ' an admitted failure, tho municipalities havo embarked on a career of wild-cat finance, and, generally speaking, the clouds are threatening for a violent public reaction.
