FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAy. Present indications arc for high but decreasing southerly -winds northwards of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and variable and strong breeds, with increasing northcrlies and westerlies prevailing shortly elsewhere. Squally and showery weather probable in the northern- and East Coast districts of tho Xorth Island, and dull and misty "weather generally. Barometer rise temporarily in the north, but falling in tho south. Unsettled weather has continued generally, boisterous conditions prevailing in .and north of Oook Strait, with considerable rainfall. Southerly winds, strong to gale, havo predominated.
