SOUTHERN MARKETS
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, June 12. There has been ecarcely any wheat offering for the last few weeks, and pats are also in very ehort supply. Tho market for the latter keeps very firm at late rates. Pollard is very scarce. There is said" to be a little more inquiry from tho North Island for potatoes, but no buying to any extent is being done by merchants as the condition of the bulk of the potatoes lately dug out has not been good, and they will require to bo pitted.' The selling" price is .£3 lte. at .country stations. Seed, potatoes are meeting with good inquiry. AVinter-grown crons are now showing well aboTo ground, says a South Canterbury paper, and favoured by mild weathef they ard making good growth. Most of, them are looking particularly .well. The recent heavy raine put a temporary f top to the sowing of /rrain, but this work is neain being pushed on as speedily as possible. There is an unusual growth of grass for this time of year, and stock, contrary to anticipation, is everywhere looking uncommonly well for the month of June. With the grass so frcsli_ and green as 'it is the country ha.s quite a spring-like appearance.
