BILL IN PARLIAMENT RAPID PROGRESS REPORTED Ottawa, June 11. Sir liobort liorden (the Premier) has introduced the Selective Conscription Bill, providing for ten classes, oorerinjj tho ages of twenty to forty-five. Sir Robert Borden stated that fihould the war continue for another two years it was not improbable that the German nircraft' would be sufficiently developed to reach and attack Canada. The Premier deeply rejjrettefl tho failure to establish a Coalition Government, but ho intended to proceed as best he could without coalition. ' Tho Hon. E. The New York "Tribune's" Ottawa correspondent says it. can now be stated positively that the Conscription Bill is through the House, although it may take a. month for tho supporters of Sir Hobert Borden to carry any war measure. Every member is expected to be present iii-tlie House when it resumes sitting to-morrow. AVhilo Sir Wilfrid Laurier is known to be willing: to drop the Liberal leadership, it is extremely doubtful if his followers will allow him to do so. There is no outstanding Liberal figure commanding such general support as Sir A\ llind Laurier. No election is now probable. GRAIN COMMISSION APPOINTED TO CONTROL MARKETS AND PRICES Ottawa, June 11. The Government has appointed a Grain Commission, invested with drastic powers, to co-operate with the United States in marketing and fixing the price of grain. The Commissioners are empowered to seize grain, elevators, fix tho purchase price, and also to negotiate with the British Government.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
