ARRANGEMENTS REGARDING Pensions. Arrangements have been completed with) tho Imperial Government for the pecuniary grants payable under Royal Warrant to holders of the Victoria Cross, Military Cross, or tho Distinguished Conduct Medal to l>o paid to those members of the Now Zealand Expeditionary I'orco who receive these- decorations. Recovery will be made from the Imperial Government through the Treasury. To those soldiers who have received the Victoria Cross a special pension of «£lO per annum is payallo from the date of the act of bravery for which the decoration was gained. An additional i>ension of £5 shall be granted for each bar added in consequence of further acts of bravery, and in the event of an annuitant being unable to earn a livelihood as the result of old age or infirmity occasioned by cause 3 beyond his control the annuity may be increased at the discretion of the Army Council. A soldier awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal or tho Military Cross shall 1)6 paid a gratuity of .£2O on promotion to a commission, transfer to the Army Reserve or ou discharge withont pension. If discharged with a pension he is eligible for an additional Gd. a day. Gratuities will be paid by -the Defence Department (War Accounts) on application, and pensions by the Treasury.
