THE BLACK HOLE OF LILLE
EXPERIENCE OF TWO AUSTRALIANS (Dec. June 11, 9.20 p.m.) London, juue 11. Two Australians, who have escaped from Hie "black hole of Lille," describing the state of the old underground fort, say -. "Thevo was not sufficient room to enable , all of us to lie down, and we wore only allowed out for five minutes every day. We were supplied witE a limited quantity of nauseating black coffee, which we had to drink out of our helmets. Everyone was weak from hunger, ami the guards refused to give us water. Later, the party was taken to Manquion. thirty-six hours' journey, without food, and on their arrival they iite grass and dandelions. Rain and cold were continuous, and they were without' blankets the whole time.—United Service.
