Dispatohes from Nicaragua state that tremendous damage was done at San Salvador. •" It is also reported that the towns of Qneequaltipeque, Nejapa, Suchicoto, Paisnal, Armenios, aod Mejieados wero destroyed. San Salvador is cut off from all Communications. [San. Salvador is the capital of the Central American Republic of Salvador. . It is situated at the foot of the volcano of San. Salvador (8360 feet), previously believed to .be extinct. San Salvador was founded in 1528, and 'in 1854 was destroyed by an earthquake. The town was tebuilt 12 miles south-west. -Violent shocks of earthquake were recorded ia 1873, 1879, and 1891. The city has a population of over 50,000.] CITY IN RUINS. New York, June S The New York "Herald's" correspond- ■• ent at Nicaragua says that Kan Salvador, is in ruins as the result of the earthquake, streams of lava; and fire.
