Then followed a- comedy, "A_la Carapagne," tho several parts of which wore read by Mies Van Staveren, Miss Rosa Van Staveren, Mr. Balham, and Mrs. Adumson. The play was much appreciated, and at tho close was heartily applauded. After this, some amusement was afforded, when various members were called -upon to relate anecdotes. Mrs. Johnson, Miss Rowley, and Messrs. AVhotton, Coolce, and Hodson responded, making up French versions of recent and current anecdotes. Tho proceedings wound up With tlio singing of "La Marseillaise" SPECIALIST EXPLAINS. CAUSE, OF STOMACH TROUBLE. VALUABLE ADVICE TO SUFFERERS. "There, 'aro many different forms of stomach trouble," said a well-known specialist recently, "but practically all are traceablo to cicessivo acidity and food fermentation. That is why tho results obtained from tho uso of drugs aro usually so disappointing. Admitting fermentation and consequent acidity of tho food contents to be tho underlying cause of most forms of indigestion, it naturally follows that the uso of a reliable antacid, such as bisurnted magnesia which is so frequently prescribed by physicians, will produce bettor results than drugs or combination of drugs. Accordingly I almost invariably advise those who complain of digestive trouble to get somo bisurated magnesia (note tho namocarefully as other forms are not so Biutablo for this purpose) from their chemist, and take half a tcaspoonful of tho powder, or two 5-grain compressed tablets, with a little water after meals. This, by immediately neutralising the acid and stopping the fermentation, removes the cause of the trouble, and insures nonrxl and healthy digestion."—Advt.
